Question : Office Communicator unable to search for contacts

I am not having any sync issues (according to OC), but no matter what I (nor anybody else for that matter) can search for contacts in OC. The only way we can add a contact at this time is to search for them through Outlook. Time does not seem to be a factor as a week has passed and I still cannot search for this contact in OC.

Presence, IM, Video, Voice, Out of Office, etc.. Seem to work fine, but searching does not seem possible at this time.

Thanks

P.S: We have both Exchange 2003 and 2007 in our environment. We are running OCS 2007 R2 on Server 2008 SP2.

Answer : Office Communicator unable to search for contacts

on your OCS front-end server, open a command prompt and navigate to the location of the abserver.exe file. Execute an abserver.exe -syncnow (as I recall) and then monitor the event logs for OCS activity. Server 2003 will throw them in the application event log, server 2008 and R2 break them out into their own event log, so make sure you are looking in the right place. You should see information events for successful syncs, and errors/warnings if there are problems. If you see *neither* then you aren't looking in the right place.

This sounds like the server not updating the OAB on the server.
