Question : How to create a new cloumn dynamically in XLS file ?

Hi ,

I have wirting a code to creat some column in xls file dynamically .
1) How can i create using POI  api?
2) I want to comapre some DB table and create what is the best way of comparing ?? (Shall retrive all the record of that particular column and stored in List and compare or another any way )
Note :already exiting xls file data only we are compare and create new column
