I'm not quite sure that Word is the right tool to achieve what you want to do.
You can create a bookmark for a specific word, and then can create a hyperlink to that bookmark, which can display a Screen Tip when you hover over the hyperlink. The word will appear in blue and underlined, though, and that may not be what you want.
Can you step back a bit and explain the bigger picture?
If you want code to define the Screen Tips, what would be the criteria to define the words to use? We definitely need more information, maybe a sample file, to work with.
It would also help if you could specify the Office version you are currently using. The differences between the versions in use are considerable, now that Office 2010 has hit the market.
