Question : Windows & Exchange 2000 Upgrade

Hi All,

I have the following 4 servers in our Domain;

Server1 (Domain Controller): Windows 2000 SP4, Exchange 2000

Server2 (Application Server): Windows 2003 SP2

Server3 (Application Server): Windows 2000 SP4

Server4 (Application Server): Windows 2000 SP4

We want to upgrade the Windows 2000 servers to either Windows 2003 or Windows 2008
but we are not sure which upgrade path to choose. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Also which option is better, the full version or the upgrade version of Windows 2003 or 2008?

Best regards,

Errol

Answer : Windows & Exchange 2000 Upgrade

There is no direct DC upgrade from 2000 to 2008.  I would upgrade my DC to 2003, give it a day, check everything (dcdiag, etc), upgrade my 2000 servers to 2003, give it a day, check everything, then adprep to 2008 schema.  At that point you can take everything to 2008 if you like.
