Question : seo and non-pages

Hi

I have a url which I use to redirect traffic to another site which I do not own, but I am a distributor of their product.

clearly, google et al will frown upon this and as such I wont get much return from seo, if any..

I was thinking that maybe if I were able to distinguish between users and spiders, that I could send the search engines down a real page route, and send users directly to the destination page..

Would this work? and if so how could I do it?

Thanks

Answer : seo and non-pages

That used to be called cloaking, and Google used to frown upon it (and penalise sites accordingly). I can only imagine that Google are even better at detecting this sort of thing these days, so I wouldn't take that path.

Why do you think Google (et al.) will frown upon a link to a related site?
