Question : Windows BAD_SySTEM_CONFIG_INFO Bsod
Experts -
I have a client PC with me now and here is the deal with it...
When you attempt to boot windows you get a BSOD BAD_SYSTEM_CONFIG_INFO (0x074), I've tried all modes, none of which work.
Next i think to boot to Recovery Console, at first i was unable to boot to the windows CD and received a BSOD, but after going into the bios and changing the SATA mode to ATA, everything was fine (i'd run into that before).
So when i launch the recovery console, i get a new BSOD REGISTRY_ERROR
Naturally i slave the HDD to a computer here, it reads it fine.
I run a Malwarebytes scan and a Kaspersky scan, malwarebytes finds 1 thing, and removes. I then run a CHKDSK /R, it fixes some errors.
I return the HDD to the case, still same issue.
Next i decide to just do a repair install. Same as the Recovery Console, when i get to pick the OS, BSOD REGISTRY_ERROR.
I then backup the data with acronis, attempt a clean install, same as the repair BSOD REGISTRY_ERROR.
I've read many articles and none proved useful. Microsoft claims its caused by RAM, i've tried a new stick and each slot. None of which change anything. Next thing i'm going to try is to slave the drive and then try to get to the recovery console.
Any ideas? Has anyone seen this before?
