Question : Array Controller got crashed after replacement of battery..

Hi,

We have an DL 380 G2 server with MSA. From last few months whenever we restarted that server the drives connected on MSA was not appearing than we had to restart it more to resolve. Finally we logged a call with HP to replace the batter of controller.
Engineer visited yesterday and replaced the battery but after that all drives on MSA got permanently dissappeared and as per HP engineer our RAID controller got failed and he has to replace it.
Need your thoughts on this case and want to know will my all drives and data is safe if he replaced the RAID controller ?

Answer : Array Controller got crashed after replacement of battery..

MSA 20 has its own internal RAID controller, it has to be connected to a Smart Array Controller though, can't connect to a standard SCSI HBA as it uses a very high logical unit number.

NOTE: The MSA20 had an onboard controller module. When the MSA20 is directly attached to a ProLiant server with a Smart Array controller, the MSA20 controller module functions as the array controller and the Smart Array Controller acts as the Host Adapter. When the MSA20 is connected to a MSA1500 controller shelf, the MSA1500 or MSA1510i controller functions as the array controller and present the MSA20 as a JBOD.
