Question : Require 2 CPUs on an Intel Server SC5520HC Motherboard?

Hi I have just been informed by my distributer that I must purchase 2x E5520 Xeon Processors if I am to use an Intel SC5520HC Motherboard with 8GB (2x4GB) ECC RAM.
Just wanting to know any reasoning behind why this might be true or if not why it would be preferred/recommended?

It's up to 2 processors, so you can get started with just one.
If you're thinking about buying a second one later on, think twice now, because buying a second equal processor is probably quite difficult (and expensive) later on. But on the other hand you will save quite some money if one processor is enough for you.
