Question : Plug n Play/USB/Registry Nigtmare - I Need to regularly delete keys in order to "detect" my MP3 Player!
I have a Windows XP machine (SP3, Home Edition).
I have a Coby MP815-8Gig player which I plug into my pc in the same USB port that I use for other devices. All devices are detected fine, however, my Coby intermittently does not get fully detected. More often than not, when I plug the MP3 player in, I see a small icon in MY COMPUTER but when I double-click it, the contents are "NONE"
I have to delete ALL of the registry keys in the graphic below. Then, plug my player in again and then my PC can see the device and all of the folders.
The drive letter doesn't seem to make a difference. Sometimes my coby is drive "K" sometimes its "L"
How can I permanently fix this? I'm registry literate and can modify and/or delete and/or reinstall whatever needs to get done.
