Question : XP Mode - usb software key not working

I have one of our techincal analysts whos computer recently crashed so I bought him a new Dell T3500 workstation running Win 7 Pro 64b. We learned the hard way that one of the proprietary software applications he needs on a daily basis is not supported in a Win 64b environment. I did some research and discovered Microsoft Virtual PC is included as an add-on for his version of Windows...XP Mode. I gave it a try and most applications work. However, for this one piece of software the software keys are stored on 2 usb devices and XP Mode will not receognize these.

I have successfully "attached" the 2 usb devices to the virtual pc but it seems like the information is not being passed to the program. I have "released" the devices, and attached them again, ran Windows update to install all current updates and updated the Windows components for XP Mode. Technical support from the vendor was not helpful at all telling us to "read the manual".

I have successfully run the program in DEMO mode without a hitch. However, this of course disables the many features that are needed in the full version of the program.

This is very high priority as these dongles are $30,000 a piece! I am hoping to not have to reimage his machine with a 32 bit version of Windows just to get this one program to work.

Does anyone have any experience with a problem similar to this? It seems to me that since the program functions correctly in demo mode in XP Mode, the full version should work as well. There's got to be a way to have the program recognize the software key on the dongles.

Thank You.
