Question : usb printer stopped working and cannot re-install
computer : hp d530 ssf
printer: hp laserjet P1505 and laser p1102w
os windows xp pro sp3
Problem:
Rebooted computer probably after windows update. After that my laserjet P1505 stopped working. When windows booted up, it detected the printer but wrong model. It detected it as an hp 1200 or something.
This Is what I did so far:
I followed Instruction from hp on how to reset the printer rom and then it detected it correctly as a 1505. But when I reinstall it, it says the installation complets but ther is no printers in control panel/printers.
I tried installing a network printer and it works great.
I tried to install a different printer (p1102w) wich has drivers directally on the printer. You plug it and it installs by itself. I have installed this printer 14 times on other computers and it is basically idiot prof. But on this computer, the installation starts fine, but it seems like the windows installtion kik's in and at the middle of the hp setup, windows says that installation is completed and reboot is required. If I click yes, it kills the hp setup. If I click no, the hp setup finishes and in gives me a message that the installation was unsuccessfull and to resart the installation.
I aslo tried to repare windows w/o succes
tried the reinstall sp3
cclceanner
renewusb
cleanspl.exe
changed usb cable and port
updated chiset drivers
hum... that is pretty much it
please help

Answer : usb printer stopped working and cannot re-install
"Tried to reinstall the p1102w and the computer detects the printer as an unknown device" can you try right clicking that unknown device and try updating drivers and choosing the driver manually on the installation wizard?
