Question : adding a file to windows/winsxs/.....

Runing SFC shows that the file pots.dll is missing from system32 and syswow64.  It is also missing in "C:\Windows\winsxs\amd64_microsoft-windows-p..ment-troubleshooter_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.16385_none_e219adccd3c03b19"

Running the System Update Readiness Tool for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB947821) [April 2010] gives me an error that it too can't find the file in this same winsxs folder.

I was able to copy the file to system32 and syswow64 using a Windows 7 VM to get the files. However, due to security I can't copy it to winsxs. Seems TrustedInstaller has all the permissions needed.  I tried changing permissions for the folder but that didn't work. I would rather not have to fool around with permissions and such.  Is there a way to add the file through some 'official' way.

Answer : adding a file to windows/winsxs/.....

Booting up Ubuntu allowed me to copy the file.
