Question : Error while attempting to uninstall SQL Server R2/VS2008

I installed VS2008 and the SQL Server 2008 R2 client tools a short time ago.  Unfortunately, that introduced problems with my creation of SSIS 2005 packages.  So, I thought, "No prolblem . . . I'll uninstall the 2008 stuff and be home free."  Well, I got everything else out but the Microsfot SQL Server 2008 R2 and the Microsfot SQL Server 2008 R2Setup (English) entries in the Add or Remove Programs list.  When I try to remove those I get the following error:

SQL Server Setup failure

SQL Server Setup has encountered the following error:

No features were uninstalled during the set up execution.  The requested features may not be installed.
Please review the summary .txt. logs for further details.

Error code 0x84B30002

I really need to get the SQL Server 2008 stuff out of the way because it has my BIDS 2005 installation totally hosed up! ;-) :-(

Answer : Error while attempting to uninstall SQL Server R2/VS2008

CAUTION: I would NEVER perform any of the steps I indicate below WITHOUT getting a backup FIRST.

Sound like you need to get the install of SQL 2008 off the server, then repair the install of SQL 2005.

Here is a tool to cleanup MSI installations:

Here is a link to repairing the installation of SQL 2005:
