Question : not seeing auto-recover version of a force-closed excel (2007) document

I was working on an excel document, saving it in the beginning and then not saving it for over a day.  My computer then automatically rebooted to get Microsoft Updates.  When I got back and opened the file,  it was the old version and it did not inform me of any previous AutoRecover versions.

In fact, now that I think about it, I don't recall excel on this computer ever showing me auto-recovered versions as it normally does on my other computers.  So maybe there is a setting somewhere, or maybe this has to do with Excel 2007.  In any case, when I went into Excel Options and clicked on Save - I do have the checkbox checked to save autorecover information every 10 minutes.   And yet, when I looked at the autorecover file location (C:\Documents and Settings\aturetsky\Application Data\Microsoft\Excel\) there is nothing there except for an empty folder called XLSTART.

What is up with that?
