Question : IP address remembered as old computer name
I'm setting up a new computer and want to re-use an IP address that was used previously for another computer. The other computer no longer exists and is not on our network.
When I ping the IP address, even though the new computer is using it, it still shows that it is used by the old computer name.
How can I get the IP address associated with the new computer name in Windows? Both XP and on our Windows Server Standard 2003?
I seem to recall something about ARP cache?
Thanks
