Question : Windows 7 Enterprise Backing up to a network drive

Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit client unable to run backup to a network drive. Error 0X81000039. Able to back up to an external hard drive without error.  When UAC turned off, same error. Admin permissions are at full control.  NTLM authentication level on client machine set to “Send LM & NTLM - use NTLMv2 session security if negotiated”. Any Idea how to correct this?

Answer : Windows 7 Enterprise Backing up to a network drive

No, not really... that just means that the remote file share was unavailable.   This is typically due to a "burp" in the network or the server itself.

Most folks are currently thinking that this is a problem that Microsoft will need to fix... to make their application a bit more tolerant of minor network burps.

There already is a formal "bug fix" submission for this...  so obviously they are aware of it.
