Question : Server Error: The signature on the certificate was found to be invalid. Check the log file for details.

Greeting experts,

I had registered and installed a new additional Domino server R8.0.2. My Notes client is also R8.0.2. When I try to access the new server from my Notes client I get the error "Server Error: The signature on the certificate was found to be invalid. Check the log file for details." However when I go to my client log file I do not see any details. When I checked on the new server log I found this: "05/22/2010 01:38:45 AM  Joe User/Any Town/SomeCompany from host [9.65.100.17:1497] failed to authenticate: The signature on the certificate was found to be invalid.  Check the log file for details."

The other servers can see this new server and the new server can see the other servers in the domain. I have been pulling my hair out trying to implement a solution based on the research that I had done. Among others: removing the cross certificates from my local address book; getting a previous copy of my notes ID; copying the new server certificate to my local address book.

I am at a loss. I even tried creating a new copy of my local address book to get rid of any hidden corruption. It did not help. It sounds like it's me. The strange thing is I can still access the other servers in the domain. Would someone let me know where else I need to go look to resolve this issue? Will I need to start all over with a new blank address book? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Answer : Server Error: The signature on the certificate was found to be invalid. Check the log file for details.

The address book should have been copied over, but if you applied some changes in a later stage on server A that weren't replicated to server B. Long shot, I know. You could make a new replica of names.nsf on server B, e.g. as names2.nsf, take that system down, and manually rename names2.nsf to names.nsf. It shouldn't make a big difference... but if it does... :-)
