Question : why we need some services on Windows 2003 DC?

We have on IT inspection. Belong their reports we should closed some services on Windows2003 DC and WindowsXP PC's(if available). I'm not sure about if I closed the services it causes any problem or not. If you know which they used for pleased clarify me.
