also, you can adjust in the setting, goto setting==>sound
if your iphone volume was completely mute,and it makes silence even though you adjust the setting, then you need to check: there is a little button on your site left top of iphone; pull out to mute all features in the iphone, and push in to unmute. be careful, the button is very small. take it easy, use your nail tip to do it.
