Question : How do I configure a StrongVPN L2TP connection from a Cisco 1701?

Does anyone have a suitable configuration for Cisco IOS for a L2TP client connection to an Internet VPN service (e,g, StrongVPN).
I've tried the instructions here http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/12_3t/12_3t2/feature/guide/gtvoltun.html#wp1049088
But stuck trying to bring up the virtual ppp interface. Also, not sure if I need vpdn or not?
Any sample configs much appreciated!
