Question : Plasma vs. LCD
I currently have a Hitachi 50V715 LCD Rear Projection Television. I've had it for about 5 years. The color has never been good on the TV and replacing the bulb has been a pain and costly.
I'm looking to buy a new TV. I spent quite a bit on the Hitachi and it turned out to be a lemon. Whatever I buy this time, I'm hopeful I'll get a good buy and be happy with the purchase.
I saw an article on yahoo about the SamSung PN50C550 50-inch Plasma TV and the Panasonic Viera TC-P5052 50-inch Plasma TV
It is my understanding that Plasma is going off the market? Why? Are they not a good buy? Will there be problems with repairs or replacements?
What about LCDs.
I'm looking for any recommendations that will have superior color and low maintenance...no bulb replacement and easy repairs or part replacement if needed.
I'm not an electronic expert, so any things I should be aware of, caveats when buying a TV would be helpful. Any guidance at all on manufacturers, models, etc. that are good buys is appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
Answer : Plasma vs. LCD
Plasma uses about 50% more energy than LCD. There are certain components in Plasma screens that remain on all the time. LCD is the way to go currently.
We purchased a Sony 40" LCD about 8 months ago and have been VERY happy with it.
