Question : Just before the end the FTP download failed due to time out in Windows 2000.

Hi,

I have a 3 Go file in my Windows 2000 FTP server and for some reason the download failed just at the end for time out.

In the event log I see: Event ID 10 Source MSFTPSVC
I know that mean time out after 900 sec of inactivity but the FTP keep downloding all the time untill it failed at the end. I restart the serveur just to make sure and it still the same. I don't have any prob with small file and there is not a connection prob neither because I have tried with 2 different internet connections.

Is there any limit of download with Windows 2000 FTP?

Answer : Just before the end the FTP download failed due to time out in Windows 2000.

FTP itself does not have a limit per-se but there appears to be some limit in windows above 2GB mark.

have a read of these:

One way around this is to not use the windows ftp client and/or server. Try filezilla, first as a client and if that does not help you may need to use a better server on your win2k box, there is a filezilla server available as well
