Question : Install 2nd insatnce of MS SQL 2008

Hi,

I already have an instance of MS SQL 2008 R2 on my locla computer which is used by our accounting software which resides on a seperate server.

What I need is to load another instance of MS SQL 2008 so we can use this for interanl uses such as timesheet recording. can someone please explain to me how to load a second instance of MS SQL 2008.

Answer : Install 2nd insatnce of MS SQL 2008

You have to run through the installer a second time. During the install the installer will ask you what the name of the instance should be. A reboot will be required after the install.

Your first instance will not be effected except for being unavailable during the reboots.
