Question : How do I retire a Windows Server 2003 from a Domain

This is a simple question but I want to ensure I do this job correctly - I have a Standard Windows 2003 Server that was used as a backup server.  This backup server has now been replaced and this server is now redundant.  It is not a DC or BDC and does not store any AD catalogues etc.
I want to retire it from my Windows Server 2003 Active Directory Domain and remove all remenats of it.
Is there any standard procedure?
Otherwise I can just power it down and remove it from AD Computers by deleting the Computer Account from Active Directory.

Yeah you have it right; you can just power it down and delete the computer object from AD.   Not sure if you have scavenging turned on in DNS but if you don't you can also delete records for this box in DNS.

Thanks

Mike
