Question : Adding a second wifi router to an existing small office network
Hi Experts,
So, I have an office with a ATT wireless router for network access within the office. I would like to add a second router but for visitors to connect to it via wifi. I don't however want these visitors to have access to the internal network. So, i've done the following and its not working as I thought it would.
I plugged in the second router to one of the lan ports in the first router. On the second router I setup a static ip address 192.168.1.2 as the internet address that is within the same range of the first router. and I setup the local ip address at 192.168.2.1 with dhcp enable so who ever connects to it via wifi will get that 192.168.2.1 range.
Well i can connect to the second router and I can go out to the inter BUT I can also ping the addresses within the 192.168.1.2 range and I don't want that.
Any ideas on how I can go about this?

There's nothing you can do to stop the second router from accessing the other addresses on the first router unless you put it behind a Firewall, and only allow access to 192.168.1.x (x being the local IP you want the router to be on).
