Question : SNMP Encrypted Key - CISCO ASA

I am certifying an ASA.  I don't have access to one.  I noticed that in the configs the SNMP encrypted key is in hexadecimal.  I was told that the ASA takes the password and converts it to hexadecimal.  Can someone confirm that with a web page?
