Question : Error When Recovering on a Gateway Desktop
OK I am stepping in for a user who is having issues with their computer. It is a Gateway system running window XP. I don't think specific model info is required for this question but if you want it let me know. OK here is the issue the user started a recovery. They selected to restore from backup disc, however they never created the discs, but because of this the recovery is incomplete and keeps looping asking for the disc(s)
Let me be specific about what the computer is doing:
1. Turn on the computer
2. When prompted to hit F11 to enter recovery mode
3. Recovery mode is initialized
4. Receive "System Restore environment is incomplete. System Restore re installs the environment" Prompt
5. Click OK
6. Then the background image changes to "Completing recovery partition..."
7. The I get "Please insert System Restore CD/DVD #1 now." prompt. and since I don't have recovery discs I cant move on, and upon reboot the cycle starts over again.
My question is what do I need to do in order to reset this whole process to use the system recovery partition for the restore, as opposed to trying to use a CD/DVD.
Answer : Error When Recovering on a Gateway Desktop
can't you boot normal, and make the recovery cd's?
