Question : Do I have a kernel for using multiprocessor, yes, or no?

Hi all,

I am using

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 (i586)
VERSION = 10
PATCHLEVEL = 2

with a kernel

Linux 2.6.16.60-0.21-default #1 Tue May 6 12:41:02 UTC 2008 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

in a virtual machine and I want to add an additional CPU. How do I know if this kernel supports more than one CPU before adding an additional CPU?

Some times ago this could be seen because of SMP in the kernel version, but what about this in newer versions?

Thank you.

Best regards,
gnurl

My appologise miss read the question.
Suse is showing a version for SMP for that kernal version.
However you are running -default
Default contains smp features so i would say that you should be fine upgrading the number of cores.
