Question : Install W7 over Vista Home Premium OS
I have not had any success in loading W7 OEM Pro on a new PC with a Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD3R boad and Intel i5 chip [if you need the details, refer to my previous question "W7 not installing on RAID0" which I have closed]
In desparation, I reinstalled a single RAPTOR drive that I had a licensed Vista OEM Home premium OS installed on and the system boots up fine although there are some issues with non functioning devices. I have attended to flagged devices in Device Manager by installing software/drivers as requested. Probably most likely due to this OS having run a completely different board and equipment in its past life.
I have problems with the DVD RW drive now in that it seems fine in the device manager area but it will not open the program when the disc is inserted. Even after double clicking on run.exe. I can see that the machine is loading something off the disk but nothing changes on the screen. There is a bried DOS screen flash. Would like to load Mother board disc utilities etc.
Also have a non-functional Realtech RTL8168/RTL8111 PCI GE NIC (NDIS6.00) network adapter on this board. The driver is installed. Adapter will not turn on so I can connect to the network for updates etc. Any suggestions?
Apart from solutions to the above, if feesible to do so without significant tortue to my sanity is there a way to kick off installation of W7 Pro from within a Vista OS?
regards
