Question : Exchange 2003 relay recipient table

Hi,

Now that I have my Exchange 2010 setup on a new domain controller organization and domain, I want to be able to forward my current mail from my old Exchange 2003 to the 2010. With that in mind, I thought that I would be able to send email from 2003 account over to the 2010 account without any issues. That proved me wrong quickly.

2003 server:
fqdn.com
fqdn.net for the domain
10.1.1.*

2010 server:
fqdn.us
fqdn.zz for the domain
10.100.10.*

They are located in completely separate networks (with IPSec setup between them), and servers. That's where the environments actually stop.

When I attempt to email myself from the fqdn.com to .us, I get the following error:

Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.

      Subject:      test
      Sent:      7/13/2010 1:56 PM

The following recipient(s) cannot be reached:

[email protected] on 7/13/2010 1:57 PM
The e-mail account does not exist at the organization this message was sent to.  Check the e-mail address, or contact the recipient directly to find out the correct address.
            <exchange.fqdn.net #5.1.1 smtp;550 5.1.1 <[email protected]>: Recipient address rejected: User unknown in relay recipient table>

Do I need to setup a send connector on the old Exchange server?
