Are you using windows wireless networking or the wireless networking application provided by the wireless adapter manufacturer?
One possibility is as follows (I'm not sure how practical this could be):
1. Every time you re-installed the wireless adapter or recreated the wireless connection with the Tsunami network, your network connection number gets incremented by one.
