Question : How do I find the hard drive requirments for a SAN?

Hello

The network is using Windows OS with one linux OS & Dell/IBM servers.

I am trying to work out how I would decide what hard drives to have in a SAN without it getting to over the top in speed or price. My plan is to have two servers with a SAN running all the VMs on VMware.

Things I would like to know how to do or find out.
Find out all server average hard drive useage over a set time.
How to use that data to decide what hard drives are needed in the SAN.
What RAID setup would be best in the SAN.

Any suggestions?
I would prefer to use what features the servers already have if that can get the information I want.

If you use the ADUC (Active Directory Users and Computers) GUI you can run a simple query asking for all the objects in AD or just users or just groups or what have you.

Once you have the list you can actually select all copy and paste or right click and export to CSV from what I recall.
