Question : Corsair SSDs not working in my Dell R710 with PERC 6i RAID controller

I hope that you all have a solution for me.

I have a Dell Poweredge R710 with a PERC 6i RAID controller that I just bought.  I read that it supported SSDs so I went out an bought 4 128GB Corsair P128 SSDs.  I opened them up all proud and put them in the server.  I rebooted and launched the RAID configuration in BIOS and configured my RAID arrays then rebooted the server.  All was fine for about 3 minutes and then they all started flashing amber and the Dell managment software recorded a drive fault for each drive.  However, the management software also says that everything is running perfectly otherwise.  No predicted failure and the RAID array works fine as far as the OS is concerned.  However, something is definitly not right.

Please tell me this is something simple I am missing.  I am quitting for the night so no hurry.  I will check back in the morning.  I am also going to start with Dell tech support in the morning as well.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Answer : Corsair SSDs not working in my Dell R710 with PERC 6i RAID controller

can't look at book am offsite. first use 2 ports you have to start. buy a pcie SATA controller for the other 2. that gives signals.  use internal Dvd power plug and get a Y or other cable. if that not possible, buy cheapest enclosure you can find to supply power and house ssds & just get 4 long SATA cables and route them any way you can. this may be easiest for you.

it is not rocket science. relax, all you need to do is power and signal them in any enclosure. no need to worry about temperature and EMI
