Question : Screen Resolution -- Docked vs UnDocked

How can I keep two different desktops,
docked and nondocked, so I don't
have to do step #7 below ?

Example
 1. login to WindowsXP
    laptop that is connected
    to external 1680 x 1050 screen
      ** attached 1.jpg
 2. turn laptop off and undock
 3. turn undocked laptop on
 4. desktop ICON positions change
      ** attached 2.jpg
 5. turn undocked laptop off and redock
 6. turn docked laptop on
 7. desktop ICON appear changed
      ** attached 2.jpg
 8. manually move desktop ICON positions
    back to their normal location
      ** attached 1.jpg

My users have always asked me this question and I haven't stopped to search anything out until now.  Hope it's an answer to the problem.
