Question : DHCP Configuration & Scope Setting / VLAN Identify - Please help

Hi all

I'm more or less new to dhcp config and vlan so here my question:
I've installed an DHCP server on Win2008 and already authorized/activated it.

Now i've got a list with 10 different VLAN ID's, Net Address, Default Gatway, SubMask, First Address and last Address.

Like this:
VLAN:3005,  Description: Clients,   NetworkAddress: 172.19.240.0/26, Default Gateway:172.19.240.62, Subnet: 255.255.255.192,  First Adress: 172.19.240.1  Last: ..59

VLAN:3006, Description: Printer, NetworkAddress: 172.19.242.0/26, etc. etc.

The networker told me they have configured the l3/cisco switches with an dhcp helper address.
My primary question is now how i need to config the scopes in the win2008 dhcp server?

Can i just create for example a scope like normal for each VLAN? How the DHCP server identify for what VLAN he needs to serve an IP ?

Do i need to setup the "VLAN-ID" somewhere in the Scope Configuration for Identification?

Thanks for any help!

That's right. Scope name does not have any common thing with VLANs. DHCP helper on switches redirects DHCP queris to the proper IP address.

The most important thing is to set proper pool address, network mask and default gateway in each scope. If you have common DNS servers for your domain you can set options 006 and 015 in server options and 003 in each scope's scope options.

Then you don't have to configure it in each scope, it will be inherited.
