Question : Cisco 3560 connecting to Dell switches
I'm in the learning phase of switching, so please bear with me. Also I am working with equipment that has no documentation as far as what exactly is plugged into which port and quite a bit of it is not in the line of sight. With that said, here is the situation: We have a server rack with multiple servers connected to a switch on top of the rack and situated in one room. There is a connection between that switch (Cisco SGE 2000) and a switch (Cisco 3560) in another room about 20 feet away, where the network rack is located. From the 3560 there are connections to 3 other switches, Dell 5448, 5324 and 2724. As I am learning and noticing things I am trying to correct mistakes that were made. The connection between the SGE 2000 and the 3560 appears to be fine, although the 3560 port is only Fast Ethernet. Both Gig ports on that switch are in use so I cannot connect to one there. First question is, would it be best to move that connection to a combo port on one of the Dell switches so that the connection would be Gigabit? I do have a GBIC that I can use for this. Next question is about the connections that go from the 3560 to the Dell switches. They are trunked from the 3560 side but I don't know on the Dell side. How is trunking set up on Dell switches? Also, do these connections require a crossover cable? They are currently connected with a crossover. I am required at this time to make do with the equipment that I have, so please no suggestions about replacing the Dell equipment because of bias against Dell (thought I should mention that because I have seen it before). I appreciate all comments and suggestions, thanks in advance.

Is everything working as is or are you experiencing problems?
Are you using VLans?
What trunk mode is the 3560 set to on the connections to the dell?
What is your usage on the Link to the SGE 2002?
