Question : Windows Server 2008 R2 Default Domain Policy - Password Policy

Hi,
I've set up and new Domain on Windows 2008 R2 and want to disable the password policy.

I've gone to Group Policy Management and under the Domain - Default Domain Policy I've right clicked and picked Edit to go to the Group Policy Management Editor for the policy.

In Policies-Windows Settings-Security Settings-Password Policy I've set all entries to Not Defined.

Still unable to set a simple password for a user in AD Admin Center.

Failed to reset password for DOMAIN\User.
The error is:
Failed to set the password for the object. The password does not meet the length, complexity, or history requirement of the domain.

Does anyone know why?

Thanks

Brian

Answer : Windows Server 2008 R2 Default Domain Policy - Password Policy

don't set it as not defined but instead go into the policy and disable the password complexity
same goes for password age, if you don't want the password to age don't set it as not defined but set it to 0
If you set it as not defined then whatever the machine has in the local policy will apply, to control it with group policy you need to define the group policy and set it to what you want not leave it not defined.
