Question : How long can I run SATA and IDE cables?

I have a computer that I would like to move under my desk.  I need access to attaching SATA and IDE drives to this machine via their cables.  My question is, how long of a SATA and IDE cable can I run before any attenuation occurs?  I'm not interested in using USB devices.  Thanks in advance.

ESATA 6.6 feet
SATA 3.3 feet
