Question : Exchange Server Log Files

I've taken over the server administration responsibilities for a new client.

Customer was experiencing Exchange Server shutdowns due to inadequate disk space
available. This was an ongoing problem.

The problem occurred because the Exchange Server hadn't been backed up for two months and the log files were eating up all of the available disk space. I also discovered the previous tech was simply copying the oldest log files to a directory on another hard drive.

I ran a backup and was able to clear existing log files. I copied other log files (6/2/2010 thru 7/21/2010) that were moved by previous tech back into the Exchange Server log file directory - ran a backup and was able to get rid of them as well... I found older log files (5/28/2010 thru 6/12010) and I copied them into the Exchange Server log file directory and completed a backup. Those files were taken care of (deleted) as well.

Since performing my last backup my new backup will not take care of the new log files created (7/22/2010 thru 7/27/2010) by the Exchange Server.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Answer : Exchange Server Log Files

Then you can create another Storage Group.

Then a store.

Move a Mailbox to that Store.

Try taking the Full Backup and see if the Backup purges the Log Files
