Question : Installing an i3

Hi;
I'm not well versed in installing a processor so I require some help.
I'm about to install an Intel i3 boxed processor, I've noticed that the fan assably has three lines of a dark matter where it contacts the CPU.  I've read the Intel instructions about setting the CPU but has no reference to the thermal compound or if you need to do something with the dark matter.  So here are my questions;
Does this dark matter is the Intel's thermal paste?
Do I just set the fan assably over the CPU?
Do I need to use some other thermal paste?
The Motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-P55M-UD2

Answer : Installing an i3

>Does this dark matter is the Intel's thermal paste?

Yes.

>Do I just set the fan assably over the CPU?

Yes.  You may want to use a credit card edge to spread the paste evenly over the whole surface before doing so.  Push the pins through the motherboard and twist clockwise a quarter turn to lock them.

>Do I need to use some other thermal paste?

No, though enthusiasts tend to use their favorite, Arctic Silver.
