Question : A_POLICY_VIOLATED_FILE_WAS_DETECTED_AND_REMOVED

We have a Windows 2003 SBS server, Exchange 2003 and Outlook 2003 on the desktop. One user is trying to send a CPL file as an attachment. They are the only person in the company that needs to do that. When they try to send the attachment, it is removed with the following text message in the place of the attachment.

A_POLICY_VIOLATED_FILE_WAS_DETECTED_AND_REMOVED

I need the user to be able to send a CPL file as an attachment. How do I fix this?
We are also running Trend Worry Free 6 and Trend Internet Messaging Hosted Security.

Is it Exchange Server, Outlook or Trend doing this?

Answer : A_POLICY_VIOLATED_FILE_WAS_DETECTED_AND_REMOVED

you can controll the sending policies, but the reciever may have his own policy which his admin has to configure.
with file-formats, that are known to be blocked often, i suggest to rename the file and send it.
rename file.cpl
to
file.ren2cpl

ren2 is easy to remember as rename-to

then you successfully go through all policies.

tell the recipient to re-rename the file in the email.
