My apologies. No discourtesy intended. I do not know the answer. I also do not think other experts held back because of me.
However, the two areas in Outlook that cause, or have the potential to cause muliple email pulls are the following:
1. Send Receive Groups (in Send Receive Settings) may have more than one send/receive group. Look in Send Receive Groups -> All Accounts -> Edit and see what accounts show up. There should only be one since you said you had one account. Also look at the settings under the main window in this dialogue box and uncheck "perform send receive when exiting". Also make sure the checkboxes for Offline are unchecked.
2. In your Account settings, under More settings -> Advanced Tab, see if you have "Leave a copy on the server" checked. If so, that can cause duplicated email pulls when you set up an account. I do not have a recommendation for your here. I have that flag checked on my systems (to facilitate the same mail on two machines). Make certain in the main Account Settings window that you do not have a duplicate main account.
Another thing to try is an Office Repair. In Outlook tools -> Trust Center -> Privacy options, check the box "Download a file periodically". Close this and go to Help (?) -> Office Diagnostics and run them (takes a while). See if that changes any behaviour.
Most of what I have written here pertains to multiple accounts (which you do not have). That is why I did not post all this originally.
