Question : Help with LAN to LAN routing using Netgear WNR2000

Trying to connect two LANs for 2 different small companies in the same office space. Each has its own DSL connection and router for Internet. Goal is to let users of Company 1 access a shared project folder on Company 2's server and allow Company 2 access to Company 1's high end network printer. Need to allow only that access and keep everything else secure.

Been trying many different approaches but nothing is working properly. Really no budget for hardware for a good Cisco router or switch to do VLANs. Both companies have a similar Internet Router - Netgear WNR2000 each at the latest Flash level. I tried using RIP and static routes but can't get out on the other router. Can only ping the LAN side ports on the opposing router. Also looking for a way to display the routing tables but no luck so far.

Current Setup:
Static Routes setup in each router
Routers connected to each other via crossover cable in LAN ports

               [Router 2]                                      [Router 1]

Do I need a 3rd router to connect the 2? Or should I load up a PC with 2 NICs as a router between the LANS?

Thanks, John

Answer : Help with LAN to LAN routing using Netgear WNR2000

try switches.  get inexpensive switches and connect the lan of each router into them respectively and connect the uplink between the swithces.  i don't know why the built in switch of the routers didn't work.
