Question : Amber Error PowerEdge 2650 e0d76

I have a Dell PowerEdge 2650 that went down and is flashing amber error e0d76. Looks like according to documentation that this indicates a drive failure.

Maybe I've misunderstood the concept of RAID-5, but we had 5 36GB SCSI hard drives in this server. Even if one of them died, shouldn't the server be able to continue running? I don't have any spare hard drive slots so I never had a "hot spare". What's the course of action? Just hot swap the dead drive and the array will be rebuilt?

Answer : Amber Error PowerEdge 2650 e0d76

I pulled the first drive that failed and rebuilt the array but the drives kept flashing and the array manager showed no members.

I flashed the firmware to the next step up and suddenly it started working again. It rebuild using the new drive and my raid 5 array is back to normal.
