Question : Exchange 2010 Remote Connectivity, SMTP

I just got done building a 2010 Exchange server on a new domain.  I have not migrated our clients over yet from existing 2000 Exchange or domain.  

The new server has internet connectivity and I have been able to send mail from within the new domain.  It also passes the Exchange Remote Connectivity Analyzer test.  However, nothing send from the server reaches anyone outside the network.  

I have not yet changed our port mappings for incoming mail on our firewall but port 25 is open for all outgoing mail.  Shouldn't these message be making their way out of the network and to the intended recipients?

No bounced back messages either...

Any ideas?

Look at the queue...see if its building up.   Check to make sure you have setup a Send connector?     Do you have any firewall rules blocking SMTP...quick test for this would be from the Exchange 2010 server you can run a telnet test.   first you need to install the telnet client:

servermanagercmd -i telnet-client

then run the command  telnet mail.calnettech.com 25    do you get a banner?   if not you have a firewall issue.
