Question : laptop setup win 7 64bit with 32bit xp pro emulator

I am testing a new laptop configuration for my business. I just received a dell precision m4500 with:
-x920 i7 proc
-8G RAM
-win7 64bit
-250GB sas
-64GB solid state

I need to run 32bit software on this. Is the built in emulator better or should I use vmware player? (other better options?) I had planned on running off the 250 drive and using the 64 drive for vmware, but dell loaded the main on the 64.  Am I better off this way or should I reload the computer on the 250, and go as planned. Thanks for any  suggestions.

The solution was to add these 3 missing lines to system.conf

fxoks=1-24
fxoks=25-48
fxoks=49-72

I feel dumb now since those are basic/required settings that I always configure in zaptel.conf and should have known that they needed to be in system.conf.
