Question : Windows 7 WGA says my legitimate copy is NOT GENUINE
A few days ago (a couple of hours after doing a windows update), I started getting notification that my copy of Windows is not genuine. I opened a case with Microsoft who agrees that my CD key is valid (I bought it directly from Microsoft), yet I can't pass validation.
I've tried everything I can think of - reboot, change product key (via command line), re-activate via command line, sfc /scannow, in place upgrade (failed),
SLUI does nothing - no errors, nothing in task manager, just plain nothing. The link on the computer property page to change the product key doesn't work, I had to use SLMGR.vbs to change the key and activate. It will take my key or a Gold Partner VLK and activate on both, but both still say "not genuine"
Microsoft has given up and told me the only way to fix it is to reinstall the OS. I find that hard to believe, and I'm determined to fix it.
Maybe I've got some DLL's that are no longer registered? Anyone care to take a stab at this?
