Question : BootExecute in Startup - Windows XP

Hi E's, I try to made in my PC my own diagnostic, and I see something strange in my startup programs.
In startup programs, the windows XP execute a registry key, call's 'BootExecute'.
I check the key, and in value data I see this phrase 'autocheck autochk *¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿',.
I thing the key was corrupted, and that phrase not is correct, I check in the net and the correct value was 'autocheck autochk *'.
I try to change the value, but the system can delete.

Can you please tell me what happening? Is normal that file run at startup? Why the system change the phrase?

Regards, JC

Extract:
Any program that must run before the Win32 subsystem is started (around the time the logon box appears) must be a native application. The most visible example of a native application is the "autochk" program that runs chkdsk during the initialization
In this article describes how native applications are built and how they work.
for example
Autochk runs in between the time that NT's boot and system start drivers are loaded, and when paging is turned on.
At this point in the boot sequence Session Manager (smss.exe) is getting NT's user-mode environment off-the-ground and no other programs are active. The HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\BootExecute value

Hope that assists you.
If you're not sure about the hijackthis log just post it back here using the code below the your comments box.
