Question : How do I decide on the hardware components required for assembling a CPU for Development purpose (Microsoft & Adobe Technologies).

I want to assemble a cpu for my home use,
In my office i use AMD Athlon 2.2 Ghz, 3GB RAM & ASUS MB, and it doesn't seem to compile fast & muti task with Zend

studio Flash Builder 4.0 Plugin and all. So please advice.

The main applications i use is

Visual Studio 2008/2010
MS SQL Server 2008
Adobe Master Collection CS5 (Flex & Flash most of the time, Fireworks, Photoshop & Encoding occationally)
Microsoft Expression Studio (Sliverlight Desiging & Development)
MySQL
Zend Studio for PHP & Flash Builder 4.0 Plugin
VLC media player for watching movies (at times 720p and 1020p)

And
I don't play games.

What is the kind of processor (Max budget Rs. 15,000), motherboard (Max budget Rs. 15,000), RAM (DDR 3 -1333, Max

budget Rs. 7,000) and graphics card (Max budget Rs. 7000) combination would be good for me.

More cores in a processor, low no. of cores and more RAM and Graphics (i've heard adobe products now utilizes Graphics Cards as well) some eg:

Core i5-750 4Cores/4threads, 2.66 GHz up to 3.20 with turbo boost, 8 MB Cache, 45 nm
or
Core i5-670 2 Cores/4 threads, 3.46 GHz up to 3.73 with turbo boost, 4MB Cache, 32 nm, Intel® Turbo Boost

Technology, Intel® Hyper-Threading Technology and Intel® HD Graphics

http://www.intel.com/en_IN/consumer/products/processors/corei7-specs.htm

i7-930 / 2.8 GHz, 8MB Cache, 4.8 GT's
or
i7 - 860        2.8 GHz  Turbo Boost To 3.2 GHz, 8MB Cache
i7-860       4 Cores/8 threads, 2.80 GHz up to 3.46 with turbo boost, 8 MB Cache, 45 nm, Intel® Turbo Boost Technology,

Intel® Hyper-Threading Technology

Intel i7 - 1366 Socket or Intel i3 / i5 / i7 - 1156 Socket

Motherboard Gigabyte, MSI, ASUS (I've some problems connecting e-SATA cables in ASUS)

DDR 3 Dynet / Hynix, Transcend / Kingston, OCZ, Corsair, G Skill

Graphics card N V I D I A - Ge Force or A T I

Answer : How do I decide on the hardware components required for assembling a CPU for Development purpose (Microsoft & Adobe Technologies).

You have quite a generous allocation for your components - I calculate the dollar equivalents to be $320 for cpu, $320 for motherboard, $150 for RAM, and $150 for video.

I would recommend
i7-930 cpu http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115225 $290
Gigabyte GA-X58A UD3R motherboard http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128423 $210
OCZ Gold 6GB DDR3 1600 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227365 $150
Asus EAH5770 Radeon video card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121363 $150

The cpu will provide plenty of processing power for multiple tasks and encoding, 6GB should be enough for your applications like Photoshop which can use more RAM, if you run a 64-bit OS to make use of all of it, and the 5770 video card will handle any graphics need, even most 3D games. You can get by with a less expensive setup if you choose a P55 socket 1156 motherboard and an i7-860 cpu, which will still be close in processing power, but not as upgradeable.
