Question : Exchange 2010 and Outlook 2003 subfolder display bug
After an upgrade to Exchange 2010 from Exchange 2003 the bulk of our Outlook 2003 clients get a weird subfolder display issue where the subfolders will display at the root of the folder list (i.e. same level as inbox). These folders will eventually disappear, and if you drill down into the subfolders where they should be, the artefact folders will disappear a bit quicker. When Outlook is reopened, it will be a completely different set of folders that are displaying improperly, sometimes it's 3 folders, sometimes it's 40, no rhyme or reason (that I've found). We are also occasionally getting an 'Unknown Error" when deleting items from Outlook, that error is fairly well documented and there's a fix <

This did not happen prior to the Exchange 2010 migration.
We know Outlook 2007 does not have these issues.
We know OWA does not have these issues.
Unknown if cached mode fixes these issues, but all of these client s are on a TS server anyway.
We've disabled all add-in's, no change.
We've tried creating new Outlook profiles, no change.
We've tried creating new users, no change.
We've tried local copies of Outlook 2003 (no TS), no change.
We've tried on Windows 7 Pro and XP Pro clients (fully patched)
All Outlook clients are fully patched.
We've got a case opened with Microsoft, but after many hours on the phone with them, they're now dragging their feet. Anyone have any other ideas? (and yes, we've quoted Outlook 2007 to the clients)
Answer : Exchange 2010 and Outlook 2003 subfolder display bug
Ok, just got off the phone with my Microsoft Case Manager and an Outlook Specialist. This is a known issue to the Microsoft Engineers and will be fixed in Exchange 2010 SP1 (due for release in late summer 2010 <holds breath>). Thanks for the help.
